Course Description

Chinese medicine is rich in its treatment of Shen disturbances, ranging from mania-depressive states (dian kuang), running piglet qi (ben tun) as manifestations of panic attacks, to dementia (chi dai/feeble mindedness). This workshop will explore the Shen and its derangement that results in specific emotional and mental states. Furthermore, the workshop will focus on the role of Confucianism in the transformation of the emotions into virtues. The overall goal of this workshop is to provide attendees with various Chinese medicine approaches to understanding and treating mental illness.
